  1. The latent heat of vaporization is an amazing scientific discovery, that lead directly to refrigeration. Basically, there is a large delta in the energy between a liquid and a gas. If you force the liquid to become a gas, it will steal the energy needed to become a gas from whatever is close by. This is why you feel cold when you get out of the shower or the pool, even though you were warm in the water and then warm again when you are dry. The water on your body is stealing heat from you so that it can become a gas. Science!
